The fall of Sun Movie is not only a loss for movie fanatics, but also for Chen's media business. Spring International includes a film distribution company, two Spring Cinemas in Taipei and a live theater group. Sun Movie was also the first cable channel for Chen to manage.
Sun Movie had also acquired exclusive rights to broadcast the Cannes Film Festival ceremonies. And just one month ago, the channel had signed a contract to broadcast China's Golden Rooster Awards and Hundred Flower Awards, as well as the Hong Kong Film Awards Ceremony. These plans will also be halted as long as Sun Movie is gone from the cable scene.
