Rated R, directed by: Nick Hamm, with: Thora Birch (Liz), Laurence Fox (Geoff), Keira Knightley (Frankie), Desmond Harrington (Mike), running time: 102 minutes.

The hole that provides the title for this movie refers to the secluded bomb shelter four boarding school students hide in to play hookey for a weekend. Only one, Liz, emerges from the shelter and her tale of the horrors which left the other three dead are so incomprehensible she has to return to separate illusion from fact. Like The Blair Witch Project, The Hole is about a weekend that should have been great but which goes horribly awry. There's no gore, only the slow, agonizing death brought on by hunger and thirst. And as the facts emerge from Liz's testimony, all evidence points to a jilted admirer being behind the senseless deaths.
