LTK (濁水溪) has always been known for its stage shows. Over its 10-year history, the performance artist troupe cum rock band has lit explosives on stage, destroyed all kinds of things in all kinds of ways, spewed frequent streams of invective and abuse, and much more. Now they've made a
documentary about all the madness, and they're showing it this Sunday at 3pm at the Eslite Music Store (誠品音樂館).
The group has actually made two documentaries, capturing numerous performances, including sets from an anti-China tour, several Spring Screams, shows at Taipei clubs like Zeitgeist and Underworld, and a concert in front of the Presidential Palace. They also include clips from the
recording studio, tour stops and other aspects of band life. Lead singer Ko Ren-jian (柯仁堅), usually called Hsiao-ko (小柯), said that his favorite part is
when the band set fire to all its instruments in 1995 while playing an
abandoned brewery in Panchiao (板橋). "In this world, you can't use peace to
solve all problems," he explained simply.
Much of the video footage was provided by friends and associates of the
band, and took more than half a year of editing to produce as two
documentary films. The screening on Sunday marks the end of the band's
island-wide documentary tour and will show the shorter 22-minute version.
Afterward, a panel including LTK band members, Clippers (夾子) front man
Hsiao-ying (小應) and other members of Taiwan's rock scene will answer
questions and talk about why the band does what it does.
The Eslite Music Store is located in an alley across Hsinsheng South Road
(新生南路) from National Taiwan University (台大) at 5, Ln. 5, Roosevelt Rd. Sec.
