Summer madness at Fulung

By David Frazier  /  STAFF REPORTER

With sun, sand, surf, cheap barbecue, live bands and DJs until dawn, the Unity Music Project (夢田福隆海灘舞祭7) basically has something for everyone, and what it doesn't have, you'll have to bring yourself. The party, to be held tomorrow and Sunday, is the latest effort of Bliss Productions, which threw the last Fulung bash in late May. The success of that party inspired them to up the ante this time, bringing in local bands like Clippers (夾子), 88 Guava Seeds (八十八芭樂) and Aboriginal performer Biung (王宏恩). Bliss has also teamed up with Dreamfield (夢田音樂), a local rave syndicate that has arranged to fly in DJ Ziki, a popular Israeli trance DJ based in Japan.

Because Sunday is July 1, the party will also serve as an unofficial Canada Day celebration. Festivities begin tomorrow afternoon at around 3pm, when the first band starts playing on a beachside stage. The complete band lineup includes Chicken Rice, Smack Dab and Milk, in addition to the bands mentioned above. For those who require food to party, from 4pm to 6pm NT$50 plates of barbecue will be available on a first come, first serve basis. Bands will continue playing until about 10pm, when the DJs take over. Tickets cost NT600 in advance or before 10pm at the door, or NT$800 after 10pm at the door. For advance ticket outlets, check http://www.kinomod.com and http://www.freamfield.com.tw.
