Not all of the films linger on personal relationships, however. In Fernando Trueba's award-winning 1998 comedy, La Ni de tus Ojos (The Girl Of Your Dreams), the relationship between peoples of differing nations is the underlying theme. Set in 1938, the camera follows a group of Spanish film directors who depart from Franco's Fascist Spain for Hitler's Nazi Germany to work on a co-production with German filmmakers. It's not long before friction erupts between the two very different groups of filmmakers and the action takes a farcical turn.
With a good selection of tantalizing and rich drama and some wonderful comedies on offer at this year's Art Film Festival, organizers are confident that the movies will be well received by audiences.
