Challenging Gutenberg's legacy

Chen Lung-bin's sculptures recycle books and magazines while protesting the glut of information and challenging the power of the printed word

Upon closer examination, one sees pages torn from fashion magazines, the faces of sexy models, their pouty lips and made-up eyes peering out through the layers and layers of glued and painted pages. In one panel, a male hunk is interspersed with gay ads but the layers of paper and paint reveal the imagery slowly. The work acts as a seduction and a frustration of desire simultaneously.
