The ugly, brazen hypocrisy of this approach is that in a country like the US, politics has been systematically corrupted by corporate interests, including the media.
US politics is nothing but an entertainment game to maintain a delusion that some kind of fair play is possible.
It is not.
If the US system is totally corrupted by enormous multibillion-dollar contributions to political parties and lobbying efforts, the paltry spreading of money in Taiwan to influence the occasional small-time politico is not that important.
Large-scale domination of policy direction by corporate America and its influence over the system is the ugly reality the US will never deal with.
Individuals having to pay bribes is bad enough.
Having a totally, corrupt, unchangeable system that perpetuates injustice and war is oppressive.
