Letters: Will Chen wear the pants?

    Thursday, Nov 22, 2007, Page 8

It is once again a sad day for the rule of law in Taiwan.

Chinese Nationalist Party (KMT) presidential candidate Ma Ying-jeou (馬英九) has advocated breaking the law, not because it is unfair to the majority of Taiwanese, but because the law may hamper the KMT's unlawful retainment of stolen assets ("Ma stands by KMT snub of CEC ruling," Nov. 18, page 1).

Now I have two questions concerning this matter:

Does President Chen Shui-bian (陳水扁) have the courage to enforce the laws of the land no matter what it takes?

Would he declare martial law to ensure the rule of law in Taiwan?
