Letters: More bike access, ple

I am a teacher working in Taiwan and I enjoy the convenience of Taipei's MRT system. Unfortunately I am unable to take my bicycle on the MRT because I live in Banciao, which has no bicycle access.

I know that Taiwan is heavily dependent on motorscooter use, and it is disappointing for me that there is no access for bicycles at many rapid transit stations.

If there were, it would be a way to help the environment and a way to travel for people who don't want to cause pollution and hope to get a little exercise as well.

A bicycle is a natural way to travel. I used to live in Portland, Oregon, which also has a light rail service similar to the MRT and they have full access for bicycles along the line.

I would strongly encourage those who can to find a way to gain access for commuters to use bicycles. As we know, the Earth is going to get a lot worse before it gets better from the pollution that cars and motorcycles emit. Why don't we encourage people to use alternative ways of traveling, such as bicycles?
