Letters: Amnesty for the`Hsichih Trio'
Tuesday, Jul 03, 2007, Page 8
The Taiwan High Court's recent reversal of the 2003 "Hsichih Trio" acquittal is as disappointing as it is shameful.
The High Court has not only denied justice, but has also disgraced the integrity of Taiwan's justice system.
It is therefore critical that President Chen Shui-bian (陳水扁) act swiftly and surely to right this mistake and to restore faith in the justice system.
Chen must act now to grant amnesty to these three innocent men, and Chen must show -- those in Taiwan and abroad -- that Taiwan will recognize and respect due process.
