Letter: DPP only cares for Hoklo

The Hoklo government of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) only cares about the Hoklo people of Taiwan. The Chen Shui-bian (陳水扁) administration couldn't care less about the Aboriginal peoples of Taiwan or Taiwanese who identify themselves as Chinese. The 228 massacre is proof positive of this.
Why is the Wushe massacre (霧社事件) of 1930 not memorialized? Why do the thousands of indigenous Taiwanese who died remain totally forgotten? Because in the Wushe massacre no Hoklo people died, that's why. The Chen administration simply does not give a crap about those people.
The Wushe massacre was the largest and last act of rebellion against Japanese rule in Taiwan and resulted in the massacre of members of Atayal Aborigines. The Japanese killed thousands by dropping poison gas bombs from airplanes on Atayal villages, nearly wiping out the entire ethnic group.
They did this to try and kill one man, tribal chief Mona Rudao. This event reeks of genocide, and the use of poison gas is a reminder of the Holocaust.
Yet there is no memorial, no mention at all by the DPP, because they don't care about the Aboriginal people of Taiwan -- only the people who love and believe the lies of the DPP are worth caring for.
