Last week, I joined a summer combat camp called "Special Operations Camp" held by the Army Headquarters, Ministry of National Defense. It was so interesting and meaningful that I would like to share both my invaluable experience and feedback with young people all over Taiwan.
The purpose of the camp was to promote the idea of all-out national defense. All participants of the summer camp were from various senior high schools and colleges. During the six-day tour, I came to realize the responsibility and connection between the nation and myself as well as the meaning and value of life.
By receiving military training, I cultivated a regular routine. What impressed me the most was that I was taught to tie knots and descend by holding ropes. Furthermore there was a maneuver conducted by shock troops. The scenario was so real that it took my breath away.
As the saying goes, "education is the most inexpensive national defense." No nation can hope to be powerful without paying attention to its defense education.
Only by implementing all-out defense education, can we maintain our homeland security.
