    Letter: Lu interview worthless

    By Tom Baker

    Thursday, Jan 19, 2006, Page 8

Your interview with Vice President Annette Lu (§f¨q½¬) ("Lu unflinching in pursuit of her goals," Jan. 16, page 3) clearly left the realm of news reporting, could barely be considered an editorial and was simple unabashed political boosterism.

Apart from the fact that this is the same woman who once recommended that Taiwan follow a "Hello Kitty" approach in its international relations, if the Taipei Times wishes to maintain its credibility as a news organization, it must be able to better distinguish between news, analysis and advertising.

We have been hearing about Lu for many years now. The article adds little new information and it would be much more interesting to your readers to read an interview with someone such as the new Democratic Progressive Party Chairman Yu Shyi-kun.
