Thirty pieces of silver

Twice by the Taiwanese populace, his access to Taiwan's fortune cut to buy a toadying constituency, party coffers being depleted to buy a spot in the limelight -- what's an incapable orator, bumbling premier and placeholder vice president to do to achieve respectability?
Perhaps dusting off those old political science texts for guidance, he might have read, "The enemy of my enemy is my friend."
In any event, 30 pieces of silver buys a spotlighted dais, a handshake from an equally unelected leader of Chinese from the other side of the Taiwan Strait, and the New York Times headline, "60 Years Later, China Enemies End Their War." What a smart bargain!
