    Laughable and pathetic

    By Wang Weiming

    Friday, Apr 30, 2004, Page 8

Taiwan is sinking into political turmoil after serious accusations from the government such as "coup d'etat." Four years ago, the American people had to wait a month to learn who their president would be. Why are people in Taiwan not allowed to question the legitimacy of the election? Is it not laughable, if not pathetic, how those two bullets have had such an effect?

It is absolutely necessary to banish this lack of democratic spirit. We need a president in the service of everybody's interests.

Why do we not demand that the pan-green camp cease unleashing accusations that not only fail to resolve conflict but in fact create new and more dangerous ones?
