Looking at Taiwan's ruling party, it's as if it is stuck in Cold War thinking, believing that it is opposing China and that only by getting US support can the nation's interests be guaranteed. This is really a far cry from the international political and economic situation where globalization has created one super-power and many strong countries. At this moment Taiwan should discuss if all the eggs it has acquired over 40 years of economic miracles should be placed in the one American basket. A little bit less of the US is needed -- Taiwan should follow its own path.
