Editorial: Lee's legacy will live on

Samuel Huntington once observed that Taiwan's democracy will continue after Lee Teng-hui, while the not-inconsiderable acheivements of Singapore will not likely survive Lee Kuan-yew (李光耀). And this is, in the end, the most basic point of Lee Teng-hui's lagacy -- that the people of Taiwan can now take charge of their own fate. His retirement, then, is merely the beginning of this process.
