Thai orchid farmers plan to ask the government to reject a proposal by Taiwan's Sunlite Biotech Co to invest US$777 million in cultivating orchids in the Southeast Asian nation, the Bangkok Post reported.
The project, if approved by the government, will employ as many as 10,000 workers, the paper said. Thailand does not allow overseas companies to own a majority stake in farming.
