Ticket prices for flights between Taiwan and its outlying islands went up by between 8 percent and 70.76 percent, depending on the route, as of Thursday.
Both of the only two airlines that operate flight routes between Taiwan and its outlying islands -- Mandarin Airlines (華信航空) and UNI Airways Corp (立榮航空) -- said the passenger occupancy rates on almost all the routes have not been affected by the fare hikes.
Mandarin Airlines, which provides flight services on the Kaohsiung-Chimei, Kaohsiung-Wanan and Makung-Chimei routes, said the occupancy rates on these flights are not expected to be affected by the price adjustments in the near future.
