Taiwan has become the world's second-largest online game market, behind only South Korea, said Lin Ferng-ching (林逢慶), CEO of Institute for Information Industry (III) Wednesday.

Lin said Taiwan's computer games market was worth at NT$4.94 billion in 2001, adding that the growth of Taiwan's online game market alone had increased from NT$480 million to NT$1.71 billion.

Lin forecast that the value will continue increasing to NT$2.65 billion in 2002, indicating that online gaming has become an important part of the entertainment industry that offers a lot of business opportunities.
