The National Invention Fair will open at Taipei's World Trade Center tomorrow, the Intellectual Property Office (IPO) under the Ministry of Economic Affairs said Tuesday. IPO officials said that items to be displayed at the four-day exhibition will include office items, daily-use products, sports goods, medical equipment, as well as electrical and electronic products. They said it will be the annual fair's largest exhibit ever. The officials said that out of the 316 exhibits, they will select the 60 of the most creative works and present their inventors with a medal and NT$120,000. Noting that although the cash awards at the exhibition are not very large, the officials said they hope to encourage others to pitch in manpower and resources for research and development.
