Growth forecast to rise

STAFF WRITER, WITH AGENCIES

Taiwan is expected to raise its economic growth forecast for this year to nearly three percent from 2.55 percent predicted in May, a report said Thursday. The upward revision was expected to be backed by better than anticipated second and third quarter gross domestic product (GDP) performances due to expanding exports and industrial output, a Chinese-language newspaper said. The Directorate General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics (DGBAS) is due to announce second quarter economic data and a revised full year growth forecast on August 16.
