Compeq Manufacturing Co (華通電子), Taiwan's largest maker of printed circuit boards, dumped its full-year pre-tax profit forecast for a loss, blaming a weakening chip market. The company, whose customers include Nokia Oyj and Motorola Inc, said it expects to post a pre-tax loss of NT$1.18 billion (US$35 million). Compeq in June had announced a pre-tax profit forecast of NT$150.4 million. The company last year posted NT$1 billion in net income. Compeq also cut its 2002 sales target by 10 percent to NT$15.88 billion. The company posted sales of NT$6.88 billion in the first half of this year, down 16 percent from a year earlier.
