NT dollar still gaining

The New Taiwan dollar yesterday continued to gain ground on its US counterpart, rising NT$0.049 to close at NT$33.758 on the Taipei foreign exchange market. Turnover totalled US$471 million, down from the previous day's US$612 million. Dealers said the local currency rose on the back of US dollar-selling by exporters and foreign banks. The unit opened at the day's high of NT$34.000 and hit a low of NT$33.750 during the session.
