Group in US to urge transfers

A delegation led by Director-General Chen Chao-yi (³¯¬L¸q) of the Industrial Development Bu-reau, left for the US yesterday on a week-long tour to push for technology transfers and business opportunities for the semiconductor industries in the two countries.
The trade mission, which is composed of more than 40 government officials and private sector executives, is planning to hold an investment seminar in Silicon Valley, and will visit Tokyo Electron Ltd in San Francisco and Applied Materials Inc in Texas, as well as other companies such as Axcelis and Mattson Technology.
The delegation is slated to return to Taiwan July 26.
