The continuing slide of the US dollar is not necessarily bad for Taiwan exporters operating in China, although the NT dollar has appreciated against the dollar-pegged renminbi, the Board of Foreign Trade said in a statement yesterday.
Taiwanese businessmen investing in the information industry in China rely heavily on key components and parts supplied from Taiwan.
Most of the semi-finished products shipped to China are for the booming assembly lines of Taiwanese electronics man-ufacturers there, the statement said.
While a weak renminbi may help boost China information products exports, Taiwanese manufacturers of LCDs, ICs and key components of PCs and notebooks will benefit from growing demand, it said.
Taiwan's exports to China in May accounted for 13.1 percent of China's overall imports in May, according to statistics released by China's customs.
