"We prefer the more comprehensive dictionary for electronic distribution," Bartholomew said in an e-mail interview.
Despite the emphasis on technology that pervades both books, he and Soukhanov said they did not doubt that people would still want to purchase the thick brick of the printed dictionary.
"Students who want to get a full value are going to rely on print as well as electronic products," Soukhanov said. "This book complements whatever is going on online."
