The Tai Tong Food & Beverage Group (TTFB, 瓦城泰統集團) yesterday posted nearly 30 percent growth in consolidated sales to NT$205.38 million (US$6.8 million) last month from a year earlier.

TTFB, which operates three restaurant chains with nearly 62 outlets in Taiwan and China, said last month’s figure dropped by more than 20 percent from February, when sales were boosted by the Lunar New Year holiday.

TTFB has three brands: Thai Town Cuisine (瓦城泰式料理), Very Thai Restaurant (非常泰) and 1010 Hunan Cuisine (1010湘辣料理).

For the first three months of the year, consolidated sales totaled NT$717.52 million, up 32.95 percent from a year earlier, the company said in a statement.

The group attributed the strong growth to the contribution from its first restaurant in China, which TTFB launched in December last year in the Reel Department Store (芮歐百貨) in Shanghai.

TTFB said that the Thai Town restaurant in Shanghai has not only reported strong sales, but also started generating profit from its second month of operation.

The company said yesterday it is targeting the launch of second and third outlets in China by the end of June as part of its expansion plan across the Taiwan Strait.
