Everlight Electronics Co (億光電子), the nation’s top LED chip packager, yesterday reported that its sales increased for the 11th consecutive month to NT$2.25 billion (US$75.9 million) last month, despite the industry’s traditional slow season this quarter.
“Our sales of LED lighting and backlight products remained strong last month because of increased orders from Chinese clients,” an investor relations official at Everlight said by telephone.
Last month’s figure grew 0.93 percent from NT$2.23 billion in October and increased 32.45 percent from NT$1.7 billion a year ago.
Cumulative sales during the first 11 months of the year increased 28.9 percent to NT$22.42 billion from NT$17.39 billion during the same period of last year, the company said in a filing to the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
“Demand for LED lighting products usually peaks in the second and third quarters,” Primasia Securities Co analyst Filia Lin said yesterday.
Lin forecast Everlight’s sales for this month would decline at a single-digit rate from NT$2.25 billion last month, supported by restocking demand ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday next month.
On Monday, Epistar Corp (晶電), the nation’s top LED chipmaker, reported that sales last month amounted to NT$2.07 billion, up 4.69 percent from NT$1.98 billion in October and 39.84 percent from NT$1.48 billion a year ago.
Cumulative sales during the period from January to November grew by 8.25 percent to NT$20.2 billion from NT$18.66 billion during the same period of last year, the company said.
