Green Energy sales surge

Green Energy Technology Inc (綠能科技), the nation’s biggest solar wafer supplier, yesterday reported its best revenue in 22 months. Sales last month reached NT$1.13 billion (US$37.7 million), up 1.2 percent from July’s NT$1.11 billion and 68.2 percent from NT$671 million in August last year. Supported by increasing demand from Japan, China and the US, Green Energy’s factories are operating at more than 95 percent of capacity, the company said, adding that it is considering raising prices by about 5 percent.

Kindle uses new e-paper

E Ink Holdings Inc (元太科技), the world’s biggest e-paper display supplier, yesterday said Amazon.com Inc has adopted its new e-paper display for the US company’s latest Kindle Paperwhite eReader. Carta, the new e-paper display, has a contrast ratio that is 50 percent higher and a response time that is 20 percent faster compared with previous e-paper displays, the E Ink said in a statement.

Delta opens research center

Delta Electronics Inc (台達電) opened a research center in Singapore on Wednesday, aiming to focus on sustainable and biomedical technologies. The sustainable technologies include energy management tools and the Internet of Things, Delta said. Future production based on that research is likely to take place in Taiwan or China, it said.
