Twenty-six Taiwanese companies have made it onto Forbes magazine’s list of Asia’s 200 “Best Under a Billion,” three more than last year, according to this year’s report by Forbes Asia.

Taiwan has the second-highest number of companies on the list, behind only China and Hong Kong, which have 63, the report showed.

The top 200 list, now in its ninth year, draws its information from databases of 15,000 stock-traded companies in the Asia-Pacific region with revenues of between US$5 million and US$1 billion.

Taiwan’s entries on the list, which was released on Wednesday last week, cover a wide array of industries, including bicycle maker Merida Industry Co (美利達), smartphone camera lens supplier Largan Precision Co (大立光), Eclat Textile Co (儒鴻), funeral service provider Lungyen Group (龍巖) and restaurant chain operator Wowprime Corp (王品).
