An annual event featuring Internet-based start-ups is to be held in Taipei later this month with the aim of matching entrepreneurs and innovators with venture capitalists and angel investors, the organizers said yesterday. The two-day event will take place at the GIS NTU Convention Center from July 24 to July 25, the organizers said.

Pingtung site nearly ready

Asia’s largest aquaculture center is expected to be fully functional in Taiwan by the end of the year, with an opening ceremony scheduled for either this month or next month, its operators said yesterday. Situated in Pingtung County, the 5.5 hectare facility can accommodate 12 public factories and one logistics center, according to the Pingtung Agricultural Biotechnology Park, which runs the aquaculture center. The facility will provide an integrated platform for research and development, breeding, inspection and quarantine, packaging, export and marketing operations. Currently, the project has attracted about 10 local exporters, the operator said, expressing hope that more would join the group and boost the industry.
