Rat filmed in McDonald’s

A video clip that shows a rat running around in a McDonald’s outlet in Taipei was filmed in October last year and was an isolated incident, the fast food chain said in a statement yesterday. After a thorough investigation of the clip, which went viral and was carried by several TV news outlets, the company said the incident took place last year in a restaurant in Tianmu District (天母). McDonald’s said that the company follows standard procedures for pest control.


New Nexus 7 to be unveiled

Asustek Computer Inc (華碩) is expected to unveil its second-generation Nexus 7 tablet before the end of this month, following the success of the 7-inch model co-branded with Google Inc, tech news Web site NDTV Gadgets reported on Monday. Asustek and Google declined to comment. The two firms unveiled the Nexus 7, the world’s first 7-inch quad-core tablet, in June last year to break into the low-cost Android tablet market.


Uni-President upgraded

Taiwan Ratings Corp (中華信評) on Monday upgraded food product maker Uni-President Enterprises Corp’s (統一) long-term corporate and senior unsecured credit ratings to “twAA-” from “twA+” on expectations that its operations in China will continue to grow. The ratings agency said the outlook for Uni-President’s long-term rating is stable.
