The nation’s trade delegations have received US$65.84 million of export orders from ASEAN members, central and eastern European states and the Balkan countries in trade promotion events over the past three weeks, the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA, 外貿協會) said yesterday.

By region, foreign buyers from Mandalay City and Yangon City in Myanmar and Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam showed the highest interest in Taiwan-made automobile components, light-emitting diodes, water filters and cosmetics during three trade fairs held by the council between Tuesday last week and yesterday, TAITRA said in a press release.

A total of 29 Taiwanese firms, including the Ecoffee Franchise Group (壹咖啡) and QQ Rice (超香國際), conducted trade talks with 460 buyers during two business matchmaking meetings held by the council in Manila and Jakarta on Nov. 5 and Nov. 8, TAITRA said, adding that the Taiwanese companies have successfully received US$6.61 million in export orders so far.

In the Middle East and the Balkans, Taiwanese trade delegations have received up to US$40.23 million of orders from Serbia, Romania, Ukraine and St Petersburg, Russia, TAITRA said.

The trade talks with Romania contributed the most export orders at US$17.54 million, the trade body added.
