Hon Hai Precision Industry Co (鴻海精密) rolled out its 60-inch LCD television in Taiwan yesterday at CyberMart.
The model was launched at half the price of other brands of the same size currently on the market. Hon Hai’s 60-inch model, launched jointly with Sharp Corp of Japan, was priced at NT$38,800 (US$1,336.5) on a contract with Taiwan’s largest telecom company, Chunghwa Telecom Co (中華電信), and cable TV operator Kbro Co (凱擘).
SALES BUZZ
According to CyberMart (賽博數碼), one of Hon Hai’s retail businesses, the relatively low price of the 60-inch TV has attracted great interest at its stores. Since pre-ordering began on Nov. 9, the CyberMart store in Taipei’s Living Mall (晶華城) has received orders for 300 units, it said yesterday.
PROMOTIONS
Local retailers have launched a series of sales promotions for large TV sets since Hon Hai announced a couple months ago that it planned to market a 60-inch LCD model in cooperation with local service providers.
PRODUCTS
Tsann Kuen Enterprise Co (燦坤), one of the country’s biggest computer, communication and consumer products retail chains, said the models being promoted include Chimei’s 50-inch LED set and Vizio’s 65-inch 3D LED and 55-inch LCD models.
SALES DRIVE
It is estimated that Tsann Kuen will sell more than 12,000 TV sets during its four-day sales promotion, which was launched on Friday, according to the company’s general manager Chang Yueh-lung (張岳龍).
