A man relaxes in the shadow of a parasol on the opening day of the Tiberis public beach along the Tiber River in Rome yesterday. The beach, which was inspired by public artificial beaches in other European metropolises, offers a beach-like sand area and grass strips along the car-free banks of the river. It is intended to serve as an easy-to-reach site for Romans and tourists to enjoy the feeling of a beach getaway and to support the city’s older bathing establishments from the 1960s.Aug 05, 2018
