A vegetable vendor is seen among price labels yesterday at a fresh produce market in Beijing. China’s inflation last month reached 6.5 percent year-on-year, the highest in three years. Surging food costs, up nearly 15 percent from July last year, accounted for most of the increase, the country’s National Bureau of Statistics said. Pork, a Chinese staple, was up more than 50 percent year-on-year, while the price of eggs rose 19.7 percent and vegetables were up 7.6 percent.Aug 10, 2011
