FISH OF THE FUTURE
Children look at a robot fish in the London Aquarium on Friday. The aquarium has unveiled three aquatic robots which were developed by a team at the University of Essex to teach the public more about robotics. Built to look like the real thing, the fish have sensor-based controls to navigate autonomously, avoiding obstacles and reacting to their environment. Possibe real-world applications include seabed exploration, detecting oil leaks in pipelines, mine countermeasures and improving the performance of underwater vehicles.Oct 09, 2005
