Five major telecom service providers in Taiwan are to start taking preorders for the iPhone SE on Tuesday and consumers would get their hands on the new iPhone by April 7, when it becomes available.

Chunghwa Telecom Co (中華電信) on Friday said that the company’s online preorder sales will start simultaneously with those of Apple Inc, whose Web site is scheduled to start taking preorders on Tuesday.

On April 7, more than 500 outlets of the telecom operator are to start selling the iPhone SE, Chunghwa Telecom said.

On Monday, Apple Inc chief executive officer Tim Cook unveiled the 4-inch iPhone SE, which is smaller than the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus the US company launched last year.

Some analysts have said that the iPhone 6 series has failed to surprise the market.

Far EasTone Telecommunications Co (遠傳電信), Taiwan Mobile Co (台灣大哥大), Taiwan Star Cellular Corp (台灣之星) and Asia-Pacific Telecom Co (亞太電信) are also scheduled to start taking orders on Tuesday.

Asia-Pacific Telecom said that consumers who buy the iPhone SE can gain access to its Voice Over LTE services, in which voice services are delivered as data flows within the LTE data carrier.

In related news, Far EasTone announced on Friday that it would cut the price of the Apple Watch Sport by NT$2,000 from April 1.
