Local Internet content aggregator ELTA Technology Co (愛爾達科技) yesterday launched an online live streaming and video on demand service platform for corporate clients, with the expectation that it will generate NT$40 million (US$1.31 million) in revenue for the company next year.
To provide the new service, ELTA will use hardware and broadband service from the nation’s top telecoms carrier, Chunghwa Telecom Co (中華電信), ELTA president and CEO Sally Chen (陳怡君) said at a press conference yesterday.
The new service can be used for broadcasting investors’ conferences, product launches, seminars and concerts, and companies can also upload videos with limited access for specific viewers, Chen said.
“We saw a business opportunity here because we heard a lot of companies complaining about the time they need to conduct surveys on companies that are able to offer similar services,” Chen said, adding that the new platform offers one-stop shopping to its clients and increases transparency for the fees of the service.
Chen said in terms of live streaming and video on demand for investors’ conference, ELTA’s service is between 30 percent and 40 percent cheaper than that of other service providers.
According to Chen, among the 2,000 companies in Taiwan, between 200 and 300 companies hold regular investors’ conferences, and ELTA aims to sell its new product to 30 percent of those firms next year.
Chen expects 50 percent of sales of the new service next year will come from investors’ conferences.
Chen said ELTA reported revenue of NT$500 million last year, similar to that of a year ago.
ELTA’s capital is currently set at NT$150 million, and the company posted profit of NT$2 per share last year, which was flat from the previous year, Chen said.
Chen said the company plans to list on the Emerging Stock Market (興櫃市場) in the fourth quarter next year, and to shift its listing to the GRETAI Securities Market by June 2016.
ELTA plans to invite new investors in the company and increase its capital when it goes public, and the company will look for investors that can form partnerships with ELTA and enhance its services.
Chung Fu-kuei (鍾福貴), president of Chunghwa Telecom’s data communication business group, said the new platform can increase the use of 4G services in Taiwan.
The only challenge for the new product is that Chunghwa Telecom and ELTA have to ensure that the platform works properly when many investors’ conferences are broadcast at the same time, Chung said.

With the electric tractor unit, the Taipei-based cement firm would become the first in Taiwan to use electric vehicles to transport construction materials. Among the rows of vibrators, rubber torsos and leather harnesses at a Chinese sex toys exhibition in Shanghai this weekend, the beginnings of an artificial intelligence (AI)-driven shift in the industry quietly pulsed. China manufactures about 70 percent of the world’s sex toys, most of it the “hardware” on display at the fair — whether that be technicolor tentacled dildos or hyper-realistic personalized silicone dolls. Yet smart toys have been rising in popularity for some time. Many major European and US brands already offer tech-enhanced products that can enable long-distance love, monitor well-being and even bring people one step closer to
New apartments in Taiwan’s major cities are getting smaller, while old apartments are increasingly occupied by older people, many of whom live alone, government data showed. The phenomenon has to do with sharpening unaffordable property prices and an aging population, property brokers said. Apartments with one bedroom that are two years old or older have gained a noticeable presence in the nation’s six special municipalities as well as Hsinchu county and city in the past five years, Evertrust Rehouse Co (永慶房產集團) found, citing data from the government’s real-price transaction platform. In Taipei, apartments with one bedroom accounted for 19 percent of deals last
RECORD-BREAKING: TSMC’s net profit last quarter beat market expectations by expanding 8.9% and it was the best first-quarter profit in the chipmaker’s history Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC, 台積電), which counts Nvidia Corp as a key customer, yesterday said that artificial intelligence (AI) server chip revenue is set to more than double this year from last year amid rising demand. The chipmaker expects the growth momentum to continue in the next five years with an annual compound growth rate of 50 percent, TSMC chief executive officer C.C. Wei (魏哲家) told investors yesterday. By 2028, AI chips’ contribution to revenue would climb to about 20 percent from a percentage in the low teens, Wei said. “Almost all the AI innovators are working with TSMC to address the
