Macronix files complaint
Macronix International Co (旺宏電子) said on Monday that it filed a complaint with the US International Trade Commission against Spansion Inc and some of its customers. The Washington-based commission can exclude imports of products that violate US intellectual property rights. According to Macronix’s statement, California-based Spansion and eight of its customers infringed three patents related to flash memory.
Land values rise
The average assessed value of land rose an average of 14.19 percent from the end of 2012, nearly double the 7.95 percent growth in value seen the previous year, according to the Ministry of the Interior’s report on appraised land values for last year, released yesterday. The three areas with the biggest annual adjustments in current land values were Kinmen, Lienchiang and Penghu counties — up 42.99 percent, 35.74 percent and 30.57 percent respectively.
Device diversity increases
China Mobile Ltd (中國移動) is selling 13 handsets for its 4G network, up from four devices at the start of service three weeks ago, as market leader Samsung Electronics Co and rivals vie for early adopters. As of the end of last month, only 181 million of China Mobile’s users had switched to 3G services while most continued to use the slower 2G networks.
