Ichia Technologies reports revenue rise

Taiwanese handset keypad maker Ichia Technologies Inc (毅嘉科技) yesterday said revenue rose 1 percent last month, boosted by increase demand for its flexible printed circuit (FPC) boards primarily used in smartphones and tablets.

Revenue expanded to NT$838 million (US$28 million) last month, compared with NT$827 million in July, according to the company’s statement filed to the Taiwan Stock Exchange yesterday.

The figure represented a 7.3 percent annual growth from NT$781 million last year.

Ichia, based in Taoyuan County, counts Alcatel-Lucent SA, Nokia Oyj, Sony Corp and Research in Motion Ltd among its major customers.

Revenue from FPC boards rose more than 11 percent to a new record high at NT$648 million last month from NT$583 million a month ago, the statement said.

However, revenue from integrated modules for metal and plastic mechanical parts dropped to NT$217 million last month from July’s NT$290 million.

Ichia posted NT$380 million, or NT$0.48 per share, in net profits for the first two quarters of this year, according to the company’s filing to the stock exchange earlier this year. Revenue amounted NT$4.28 billion.

Ichia shares rallied 3.25 percent to close at NT$15.9 on Friday, out-performing the TAIEX, which gained 1.32 percent.
