Asustek Computer Inc (華碩), the world’s fifth-largest PC brand, yesterday posted 7.9 percent higher pre-tax income for the first half of the year on an annual basis.
During the first six months, Asustek’s pre-tax income grew to NT$13.11 billion (US$437.31 million) from the NT$12.15 billion it generated during the same period of last year, the company said in a Taiwan Stock Exchange filing.
Asustek’s pre-tax income fell 18.67 percent quarter-on-quarter to NT$5.88 billion from NT$7.23 billion in the previous quarter.
The New Taipei City (新北市)-based company did not elaborate on its financial performance.
Asustek is scheduled to hold an investors’ conference on Friday next week.
Separately, Asustek, along with the Taipei City Government, yesterday unveiled the “Action @ Pavilion of Dreams” exhibition in Taipei, which opens today.
The exhibition is aims to introduce a combination of the latest technology, arts and culture to the public, the company said.
Between today and Aug. 1 next year, visitors to the pavilion can use Asustek’s PadFone Infinity to access applications installed in the building. In addition, Asustek has installed its Xtion PRO 3D motion sensors inside the building to enable visitors to experience “flying through their dreams” supported by the devices’ indoor-positioning, direction-sensing and augmented-reality technologies.
