Bayer inaugurates new hub

Bayer MaterialScience, a unit of the Bayer Group, inaugurated a regional innovation hub in Shanghai on Tuesday in a bid to further integrate its resources in the Asia-Pacific region, including working more closely with its Taiwanese branch, CEO Patrick Thomas said. Thomas said the company hopes that the hub, inside Bayer’s polymer research center covering 15,700m2, will contribute to Bayer’s global innovation network. “We are aiming to reach a global innovation footprint for Bayer and its partners by exporting China-made technology to the rest of the world by 2020,” he said. The Asia-Pacific region is among the strongest growth regions for Bayer, accounting for US$4.12 billion, or 27 percent, of its total sales last year, according to the company.
