Delta reports small boost in sales from greener products

By Helen Ku  /  Staff reporter

Delta Electronics Inc (台達電), the nation’s largest power supply unit maker, yesterday said its first-quarter sales edged up 1.01 percent on an annual basis, driven by increased shipments of “green” products, as well as energy-efficient power supplies.

Delta said in a filing to the Taiwan Stock Exchange that its consolidated revenue during the January-to-March period grew to NT$38.84 billion (US$1.3 million) from NT$38.45 billion during the same period of last year.

Last quarter’s figure, down from NT$42.3 billion the previous quarter, was in line with SinoPac Securities Investment Service Co’s (永豐投顧) forecast, which had said Delta would report NT$38.72 billion in first-quarter sales.

SinoPac said that Q1 would be the trough of Delta’s performance this year, and expected an improving sales outlook from this quarter, driven by power management systems for cloud computing servers and data centers.

Last month, Delta’s revenue fell 3.84 percent year-on-year to NT$14.09 billion from NT$14.66 billion, but increased 36.31 percent from NT$10.34 billion in February, the filing showed.

Meanwhile, Everlight Electronics Co (億光電子), the nation’s top LED chip packager, on Tuesday said its consolidated revenue hit a high of NT$1.85 billion last month, up 28.26 percent month-on-month and 21.22 percent year-on-year.

Everlight said its first-quarter consolidated revenue increased by 17.81 percent to NT$4.95 billion from NT$4.2 billion in the same period last year, with its equipment utilization rate increasing to 80 percent.

The firm said it expects a mild growth in sales this quarter.
