With panel shipments increasing across the board last month, AU Optronics Corp (AUO, 友達光電) yesterday said that its consolidated revenue last month reached NT$37.92 billion (US$1.26 billion), up 36.7 percent from February and 20.6 percent from a year earlier, a company statement showed.
“March revenue increased by more than NT$10 billion compared with the previous month and recorded the highest monthly sales in the past 30 months,” AU Optronics said in the statement.
Consolidated revenue in the first quarter totaled NT$94.24 billion, down 5.2 percent quarter-over-quarter, but up 16.2 percent year-on-year, the company said.
AU Optronics, the nation’s No. 2 flat-panel maker, said shipments of large-sized panels (10 inches or larger) last month rose 34.4 percent from February to 10.59 million units because of rising orders ahead of China’s Labor Day holiday next month.
Shipments of small and medium-sized panels (under 10 inches) grew 33.5 percent to 12.39 million units during the same period.
