TransAsia Airways Corp (TNA, 復興航空) chairman Vincent Lin (林明昇) said his company is aiming to offer more package services in the future by forming strategic partnerships with different companies in the tourism industry and expanding its investment in related sectors.
However, both TransAsia and its parent group, Goldsun Group (國產實業集團), are considering stepping into the hotel industry in the near future, Lin said.
“Providing a one-stop service [to our customers] is a goal,” Lin told a media briefing in France on Sunday.
The strategy is to offer customers flights and hotels, as well as food and beverage services, integrated by a travel agency.
The company’s revenue and profitability may benefit from the strategy on the back of the positive outlook on the nation’s tourism sector, Lin said.
TransAsia is looking for more strategic alliances with hotels in cities to which it flies, Lin said, adding that a new promotion in cooperation with a hotel in Japan may be launched in the first quarter next year.
Domestically, TransAsia might invest in building a hotel in Hualien County, while Goldsun Group is planning to construct a hotel in the next five to eight years on land it owns in Taipei’s Nangang (南港) District, Lin added.
On other fronts, TransAsia established its own travel agency unit and catering subsidiary — Legend Travel Service Ltd (龍騰旅行社) and TransAsia Catering Services Ltd (復興空廚) — to develop more integrated services.
TransAsia Catering is launching a new channel brand near Taipei International Airport (Songshan) next month, Lin said.
