Negotiations are ongoing for an investment project in Indonesia that might be launched by Hon Hai Precision Industry Co (鴻海), an Indonesian official said yesterday.
Muhamad Chatib Basri, chairman of Indonesia’s Investment Coordinating Board, said there are no problems with the Hon Hai investment plan and added that the Indonesian government is studying ways to help realize the project.
Basri declined to give details, saying that the negotiations will proceed in a low-profile manner.
Given that the investment plan is still under negotiation and that Hon Hai invests in other countries, the Indonesian government will respect the company’s wishes on the project, Basri said after a summit on investment opportunities in his country.
However, Hon Hai and the Indonesian government have not reached a consensus on issues regarding either investment conditions or the country’s cellphone regulations, an unnamed source said.
