Lextar Electronics Corp (隆達電子), an LED manufacturing arm of AU Optronics Corp (友達光電), yesterday posted its highest monthly sales in 27 months on strong demand for LED backlight products and LED lighting items.
Consolidated revenue reached NT$1.01 billion (US$34.3 million) last month, up 4.36 percent from NT$964.74 million in the previous month and 13.23 percent higher than the NT$889.16 million in the same month last year, the company said in a filing to the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
Based in Hsinchu Science Park (新竹科學園區), Lextar has seen sales rise continuously since January. Last month’s figure was the highest since June 2010, when it reported NT$1.03 billion in sales.
With new backlight orders from TV, monitor and notebook customers plus increased demand for middle-power to high-power LED lighting products from Japan and Europe, the firm’s third-quarter sales momentum was strong, rising 10.8 percent quarter-on-quarter and 14.9 percent year-on-year to NT$2.89 billion. Accumulated revenue in the first nine months of the year was NT$7.7 billion, up 15.03 percent year-on-year, company data showed.
Separately, LED chip packager Unity Opto Technology Co (東貝光電) posted record-high consolidated sales of NT$902.35 million last month, up 7.9 percent from NT$836.3 million in August and jumping 136.89 percent from NT$380.92 million a year ago.
Third-quarter revenue rose 41 percent sequentially to NT$2.52 billion, higher than the company's guidance of a 30-percent sequential growth, with accumulated revenue in the first nine months rising 11.83 percent year-on-year to NT$5.38 billion, the company’s filing showed.
