Lite-On upbeat despite lower revenue

Despite posting lower consolidated revenue for last month from a month earlier, electronic component maker Lite-On Technology Corp (光寶科技) maintained an optimistic outlook over the near future as all of its products showed steady order intakes.

Consolidated sales last month totaled NT$10.08 billion (US$336.15 million), down 3.36 percent from June’s NT$10.43 billion, the firm’s financial data showed.

However, Lite-On sees steady growth in orders for several core products compared with last year.

Lite-On said its power-supply unit posted revenue growth of approximately 10 percent year-on-year last month, while hitting a record 16-month high, on the back of the smooth delivery of new products.

Meanwhile, ongoing market share gains by branded customers as well as increased shipments of high-end power management systems have also helped increase sales of power-supply products, a company press release said.

On the optoelectronics business front, revenue from LED lighting components increased by 300 percent from a year earlier on the back of substantial demand from clients coupled with expanded production, the company said.

Products of camera modules also posted a year-on-year growth of 10 percent, thanks to sequential gains in the global market share of smartphones and PCs, which resulted in the optoelectronic business seeing a 5 percent growth last month.
